ooc: Fourth Wall Permissions
Aug. 29th, 2025 01:51 pmJapan is somewhat of a freak connoisseur of popular media, especially that which originated in or grew to be popular in his country. As such, it's likely that he'd recognize most of the anime/manga and video game characters here (along with some of the movie people). He's a polite man, so he won't necessarily break 4th wall with anyone without permission, but as a player, I do need to know if you'd want your character to be recognized or not.
Characters from different canons can have different answers. I'll just explain it away as Japan being old and forgetting stuff.
Example:

He's teleporting into people's houses and apartments and when he gets there? It's time to be a badass maid in a badass maid costume doing badass chores - aka, your character might walk out into their living room, kitchen, bathroom, or even their bedrooms to see a petite Japanese man wearing a French maid costume (with the skirt modestly below the knees) doing the housework. He may be cooking for you, cleaning your floors, folding your laundry, or dusting the knick-knacks on the coffee table, but there he is; your new maid. Well, your new maid NPC at least. Talk to him and he might give you a rare item!!! Like a sponge.

[The journal is abruptly turned on and it shows the front piece of a distinctive black uniform jacket. The voice may be familiar to some, even if the tone is not. For once, Japan sounds angry; bewildered and angry.]
Where is this place?
[The journal is dropped to the ground.]
Germany-san! Italy-kun! Prussia-kun! Where are you?
[When he gets no answer, Japan huffs and steps into view of the camera finally, frowning. He adjusts the hat on his head and looks off around the forest he's in, clicking his tongue.]
If we got stranded on another island, I am giving up on this alliance and taking the Pacific on my own.
[He sighs and begins to walk off, leaving the journal behind.]

Anyone in the vicinity of Community Housing 2 will hear a loud electric sounding explosion along with a reverb through the journals as the latest of his projects literally blows up on him. Sorry housemates. And buildingmates. ...and Luceti.
A few minutes after the explosion, he'll turn on his journal, keeping a hand over the camera so no one can see him.]

Jul. 20th, 2011 04:29 pmEven after all this time it is strange to me that Luceti has no economy. It is unthinkable in my country to have a country or city, or rather a commune as I believe we could be classified, without a system of economy. I suppose it would mean less colds, but-
First, let me thank all of those who participated in my call for autographs in my last entry. You were most kind and my collection is quite sizable now. It is heartwarming. Thank you.
Second, I have heard there is no reliable method of obtaining electronics that do not already exist in the shops. Is this true? I have something of a knack for electronics and since Luka-san went home, I am afraid I am out of things to do. If anyone requires anything, I could attempt to be of assistance.
Finally, if someone sees my dog, Pochi-kun, around the village. Could you please direct him back to Community Housing #2, Room 2? I sent him out on an errand and I believe he may have gotten lost.

Apr. 27th, 2011 01:03 pm[After dreaming about wars and pain and people he didn't remember or know in the first place, a land he'd never seen and a connection that ran far too deep to be mere attachment, Japan couldn't sleep anymore. The dreams had gotten worse and worse over the past few days, but that just meant he didn't sleep if he could help it. He uses coffee and distractions and anything else he can think of, but for the past 34 hours, he hasn't slept and that, at least, means he hasn't dreamed.
Unfortunately, it means his performance at work is dropping and if anyone visits Azzip, they might see the busboy staring vacantly off into space or have their order jumbled up.
Around town, after work, he just sits near the fountain, trying to keep awake by tinkering with electronic toys and other goods.
Come by and say hello? Or someone save him from falling backwards into the fountain because he likely looks like he might at any moment.]

Instead of his usual kimono, he's wearing just a plain white t-shirt and has a white hachimaki tied around his forehead. Scattered all over the desk are electronic parts, illuminated by a single desk lamp, in various stages of assembly. Currently, Japan is agonizing over soldering circuit boards. He touches the tip of the soldering iron to a few places, then sits back, sighing as he rolls his shoulders.]
.......I am too old for this.
[A moment later and he puts on a pair of magnifying glasses, then goes back to work.
Feel free to ask him what he's doing or make some comments. He is still trying to make Poland's flat-screen TV, despite knowing it is fairly impossible.]

And not just any sink, but it is Rise's sink. Not that he is aware of this fact because he is merely focused on the situation of him being locked into a very small, cramped, dark and rather dank smelling place without his journal. Or presumably without it.
As he rattles the doors to his miniature prison, Japan tries to call out. Incidentally, this is picked up by the journal which is lying outside of his prison, open and recording:]

But the penguin is undeterred. Or it's simply that he has no choice.
While he stands in the middle of the plaza, he is singing this song and looking around. If anyone can understand penguin expressions, he actually looks distraught, but he can't do much more than sing this song.]
